Teradata ARC 13.10

Teradata ARC, developed by NCR, is a command-line Archive/Recovery utility for the Teradata Database. It provides high-performance backup, restore, and copy operations for database objects, helping organizations protect data, support disaster recovery, and move data between environments. ARC can archive and restore at the database, user, or table level, preserving object definitions and data while maintaining transactional consistency. It supports parallel data streams for speed and scalability, selective and object-level restores, and cross-system copies for migrations or environment refreshes.

Administrators can script ARC jobs for automation, schedule batch runs, and use checkpoints and restart capabilities to reliably complete large or long-running operations. The utility integrates with Teradata security and produces detailed logs for auditing and troubleshooting. Included as part of Teradata Tools and Utilities, ARC runs on common client platforms (such as Windows, Linux, UNIX, and mainframe hosts) and connects to Teradata Database instances across the enterprise. While newer data-protection frameworks are available, ARC remains widely used in established Teradata environments for its stability and control.
